About
I’m Jo Pawlowska (b. 1990, they/them), an artist and curator based in Iceland. I work with video, photography and installation. My practice weaves together queer and trans experiences through these mediums.
I often focus on how the body and images relate to each other.
Much of my work is deeply intimate.
In 2025, I presented a duo solo exhibition with Sadie Cook at the Reykjavík Art Museum Hafnarhús, titled Everything I Want to Tell You.
I’m also part of the artist duo Brokat Films, together with painter and 3D artist Sasa Lubińska.
In 2024, I received the Icelandic artists’ salary (Listamannalaun) from Rannís.
In 2021, I’ve founded the Hamraborg Festival and I co-run it to date.
I actively participate in artist-run initiatives, including serving on the board of Samtök um listamannarekin. I also work as a freelance curator.
